First day to Las Vegas went pretty much as intended. The flight was long (I watched all four John Wick movies and had time left) but manageable, and when I finally reached Las Vegas, everything was so expensive and the hotel was well... disappointing for what I paid for it. It is the first hotel I have been to that doesn't offer any complimentary kettle, or tea bags.
Morning
- SG
Departure from Changi Singapore (Fly for 14 hours 50 mins)
Breakfast at Changi T2
This is the aircraft that took me to USA. UA002
I found this interesting... If the experience is going to be a long-ass flight, maybe it will be better to lay it all out so that people can mentally manage what they are going to be in for.
Morning/Afternoon
Transit at San Francisco International.
After a long queue to clear immigration, I experienced the strange process of having to collect your luggage and then re-check it back in for the connecting flight. I was amused to see a robot coffee thing here. Not many people were using it - Perhaps this is something people just aren't very ready for.
A view of San Francisco airport...
Another view of San Francisco airport.
Afternoon
Departure from San Francisco Intl (Fly for 1 hours 39 mins), arrival at Harry Reid Intl and check in to Flamingo Las Vegas
My first selfie in Las Vegas and an auntie walks into it. Reminder to self: take multiple photos and check them before leaving.
Gambling machines are EVERYWHERE. And this is just the airport.
Ooh, a Lego vending machine. I might just like this place.
Another not-so-good selfie...
Here is the queue to pick up my AWS re:Invent conference pass
Hmm. I wonder what they mean. This is actually something they need to verify your age. Turns out they are bad at math. And everything that isn't American - The person doing the checking asked me for multiple IDs but none of them stated age direct (you could tell from the birth year but apparently, that is too much math)
Here is my conference pass. Ooh expensive.
Here is the ride to the hotel from the airport. $35 USD ($30 + $5 tips) My first intro to tipping.
And here we are... The Flamingo
The room. I will have fun switching beds every alternate night.
Evening
Dinner + Explore the Las Vegas Strip. I didn't go very far. I was just looking was somewhere to purchase water.
Caesars Palace across the street...
Aw. I already miss my sugar puff panda.
Really milking the Flamingo theme.
Brooklyn Bowl - I will be visiting this soon for a DeepRacer programme.
This shower is a design puzzle...
Guess how to turn on the shower? You pull it - like some Tomb Raider puzzle lock.
This was an okay burger but it wasn't filling for $12 USD.
These chicken tenders on the other hand, were pretty satisfying.
Ah, what is more American than watching the Simpsons from your hotel bed.
