Cable Car....

Long weekend came and left quickly. Was looking for some fun, new thing to do and did so. Here are some of the day's highlights:
  1. Watched Fantastic Mr. Fox at Reading cinema in downtown Welly. Was actually aiming to watch Astroboy but arrived late. Fantastic Mr. Fox was quite humorous though. Definitely worth a watch!
  2. Rode the Wellington cable car and visited the cable car museum. Was a cheap thrill. Not too much to see but didn't feel ripped off either. Was just $5 for a return trip on the cable car and free admission for the museum.
  3. Dinner at Shanghainese restaurant with Uncle Mike (aka CEO). Spent lots of time complaining about how dysfunctional the workplace was. I agree. But am not paid enough to care. Much. Shall not volunteer my opinion if not asked. The target that cannot be hit is the one that is intangible.
That sums up my day pretty much. Not bad really. Made it a point to do something different and enjoyable and did so. Am still looking for more touristy things to do (there are very few in NZ), so that on the rare occasion that some friends (or family) come to Welly, at least I know of places to bring them to.
Here is the cable car... Reminds me of the Hong Kong one. Inside the cable car... And now we have reached the top. Here is the view of Wellington City. Notice that although the scenery is actually quite nice, the man-made architecture is simply boring and insipid (as with the rest of man-made stuff in NZ). Inside the museum. More cable car. This one doesn't move anymore... Just a museum display. Forgot what this is called. Must be the huge machines that drive the cars. Crank room? And here's another one. Victorian? Dunno but it is quite charming.
