Plans

"In preparing for battle I have always found that plans are useless, but planning is indispensable."--Dwight D. Eisenhower Yep, it is a nice day today. The sun is shining and the All Blacks just won the semi-final against archrivals Australia. I wasn't much of a Rugby fan when I arrived here but now I find myself caught up in the excitement of the fact that the All Blacks are in the final to have a chance to win the Rugby World Cup. It is like how Singapore won an Olympic medal in table tennis. Nobody gave a shit about ping pong until that day. Well, I've gotta admit, for the past two weeks, it has been hard being at work. There is this whole sense of "why-do-I-even-bother" but I am taking steps to put it behind me. Right now, I feel a bit more positive which is good. It also helps to have plans to keep myself focused on where I am going to. I need to get myself organized. Due to various reasons, my planning has been quite weak and as much as I realize I am in a good position to get a bit ahead in my life goals, I haven't. I have been lazy, tired, unhappy and a whole host of reasons not to take ownership of my life. But this changes now. I came up with something really simple to help me plan my way ahead. This is something I have put in my mind to do each week. I will say to myself:
  • Today, I want to do ________.
  • This week I want to ________.
  • This month I want to ________.
So bloody simple and I haven't been doing it. I could even break this down into areas of my life I want to improve (e.g. Financial, work, physical fitness, spiritual growth, social etc). Now it is time to make that list. Wow. I feel so empowered now. Better ride the mood while the good feelings remain. =)
